The weekend is here and that means it’s time for another edition of What We’re Watching on That Hashtag Show! Heading into the first weekend of May, there’s just a ton of stuff at home and in theaters. Marvel Studios drops its first big movie of the year! All that and Prime Video’s latest thriller magic with Another Simple Favor

Thunderbolts*- In Theaters Today

Marvel Studios decided to windmill the momentum Sinners delivered at the box office. Thunderbolts* stars a rag-tag band of MCU antiheroes led by Florence Pugh’s struggling Black Widow, Yelena Belova. When the government tries to unleash a force too powerful for even the real Avengers, how will these screw-ups save the world? Heartfelt and funny, Thunderbolts* is a crowd-pleaser that’s not afraid to get real.

The Surfer – In Theaters Today

Nic Cage has had such a unique career. In The Surfer, the beloved actor is on a mission to get his board back from a, frankly terrible!, group of local surfers. The movie carves between loving shots of Australian wildlife and the harsh treatment of a man just trying to ride the waves near his childhood home. If you’re a Cage completionist, this will make an interesting entry to log on Letterboxd this weekend.

The Four Seasons – Streaming on Netflix

Ah yes, the burgeoning genre of people we like doing nice things together in a “calming” locale. In this Netflix series, Steve Carell, Tina Fey, Will Forte and Kerri Kenney-Silver go through some big life changes on vacation. Friendship morphs and changes over time, just like people do. It’s a bunch of performers that audiences adore and there are some laughs to be had with The Four Seasons.

Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld – Streaming Sunday on Disney+ 

Happy Star Wars Day indeed! Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld shifts the focus away from the Jedi and Sith for a little bit. This six episode series takes on bounty hunter Cad Bane and fan-favorite Asajj Ventress. Tales of the Underworld’s release comes as a bit of a surprise as Disney+ bumped it up a few days. We appreciate the gift on May 4th.

The Walking Dead: Dead City- Streaming on AMC/AMC+  

We know you all missed Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan. The Walking Dead: Dead City returns and let’s just take a second to marvel at how long this series has been running. AMC/AMC+ bring back these characters for a trip into NYC’s grody underbelly. If the zombies weren’t bad enough, we’ve got gangs roaming around trying to amass power too. Check in on TWD Sunday.

Another Simple Favor – Streaming on Prime Video

Goodness gracious, as if we needed another reminder that warmer weather is almost here! Another Simple Favor reunites Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively. Yeah, Stephanie and Emily are back in this follow-up on Prime Video. Capri is never going to be the same after all the murder, betrayal and delightful outfits in this wild ride.

Careme – Streaming on AppleTV+

Apple TV+ always seems to have something a little buttoned-up for you. Careme is the real-life story of Antonin Careme. He’s a man about pastry and a heartthrob to boot. Espionage and food? Yeah, this one is going to be good. Careme might not be for the younger viewers in the house, but grown-ups can look forward to a full meal.

DROP – Available on Home Video 

While not in theaters, DROP is available to buy on VOD this weekend. Critics and audiences really dug this one. Meghann Fahy is great in this quirky thriller. Come for the pedigree on display and stay for the creepiest Brandon Sklenar has ever been!
