Star Wars Celebration 2025 is under way, and there’s already been a slew of reveals. With Star Wars: Starfighter, starring Ryan Gossling, and The Mandalorian and Grogu, the biggest news thus far has been from the Lucasfilm side of the franchise. Another reveal, however, has a lot of fans rejoicing. Shadows of the Empire fan-favorite character Dash Rendar is finally getting his own Hasbro Black Series figure!
For those who aren’t familiar – Shadows of the Empire, by author Steve Perry, is one of the most beloved entries in the former Star Wars Expanded Universe. The story bridges the gap between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, focusing on the hunt for Han Solo. In doing so the story introduced us to another Solo-esque scoundrel, Dash Rendar. He became an immediate fan favorite, with folks clamoring for his return to canon for decades. Yesterday’s reveal of the new Black Series figure is once again filling fans with hope…. And speculation.
Dash Rendar Black Series figure spawns questions at Star Wars Celebration 2025
You can get a good look at the new figure in the images above. The sculpt, clothing, and armor all look spot-on from what we know and saw of Dash Rendar in the Shadows of the Empire game. Fans of Game of Thrones, however, were very quick to point out the new figure’s likeness. There is no question that this Rendar rendering bears a striking resemblance to GoT’s early-seasons Jamie Lannister. Queue the conspiracy theories.
Hasbro has made a concerted effort in recent years to improve the likenesses of their Black Series figures. They’ve made extraordinary strides in making the figures look as close to their real-life actor counterparts as possible. With Dash Rendar having never appeared in live-action (yet), the figure’s similarity to Jamie Lannister actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has fans wondering. Does Hasbro know something we don’t? Will Coster-Waldau finally bring this fan favorite character to life?
